And we’re back!
Spent a week riding bikes and touring up in the Montreal/Quebec/Vermont area with my lovely new wife, but I must say I missed you all! It’s great to be back. It seems like Fall snuck in while I was away, but don’t think we’re done yet – there’s a lot more coming your way. There’s still plenty of Cyclocross to race, our yearly Auction will be here before you know it and there’s a ton of great weather left before we hit the cold darkness of Winter.
While up in Montreal I had the chance to see a city that has fully fallen in love with cycling. There were a ton of cyclists, but more than that, almost everyone rode bicycles for transportation. I even ended up behind a groom heading to his wedding on their local Bixi Bikeshare program (the same program we use for our Nice Ride!). I wanted to give a shout out to a couple of organizations that really helped make Montreal feel just like home.
– Le Grand Cycle : These guys really hooked us up. A small shop located on the Plateau neighborhood, these guys knew their stuff and more than that were just fun to hang out with! Bruno, Felix and ET – Thanks for all your help and I look forward to coming up and hanging in your lovely city again someday! If you ever need a front brake straddle wire and just can’t find it somewhere else, ET will take good care of you.
– Velo Quebec : Awesome organization that improves cycling routes and sponsors local events. Plus : A great Velo Cafe less than a block away from where we were staying! Kind of the best.
– Chez Francois B&B : Not your Grandmother’s Bed and Breakfast. Francois is kind of a cross between a old rocker dude and that cool uncle you only get to see when he’s not jet-setting about. He was incredibly bike friendly and was our unofficial guide to the heart of Montreal. Thanks Francois!
It was great to have some time to recoup and rest, but now it’s time to get to business. Hope to see ya’ll soon!
